Not a lot to say here. Sgt Cesar Ruiz was the cousin of my nephew and graduated from Taft High School just down the street from us. He died in Afghanistan last Saturday.
Today I joined over a mile long crowd of military folks taking a few moments of their day to show support for the family of this fallen hero, as they drove in procession along 36th Street, leaving Port San Antonio.
Words simply escape me. As a parent, you don't want to be in one of the cars driving slowly from the terminal to the cemetery. But surely you can imagine the immense bitter-sweet pride they must feel seeing this simple act, acknowledging their loss.
Semper Fi, young Marine.

That's touching.
My condolences go out to the family anad friends of this HERO. I participated in this show of respect today and I was deeply touched. I wish there was more we could do to show our graditude and respect. As a U.S. Air Force Veteran and American I am grateful and I was proud to be able to participate today. May God bless the family and may they feel his comfort during this time.
My condolences. My heart hurts for his family and I will add them in my prayers.
Thank you for this picture. Please post any other pictures you have of this, please. Sgt. Ruiz was my cousin and we were riding in the procession. Blessings!
Please post any other pictures you have of this
Nora, please e-mail me and I'll give you what I have. The pictures I have are pretty much all the same, but I can understand your desire to have them. Eva and I are sorry for your loss.
